The facts are people that all abdominal machines are useless. Unlike Zumba which has great benefits for a great body and lifestyle, all these "machines" do nothing.
Unless you are a fat sedentary lifestyle person, you do have abs! You don't need a machine or hours of ab exercise to see them. Just get off your fat lazy arse and lose fat and they will appear! Save your money and get into Zumba or just exercise and lose fat!
I have to also ask WTF is Pilates?

And there-in lies the problem. Your abdominals have grown from the training and thus made your gut bigger given the fat levels and in your case, growth in fat levels. You will always be a fat man in a fat man's body.
